Loft Artists Association (LAA) Mission & Vision
Our Mission is to provide artists with a supportive environment, exhibition and networking opportunities, and to reach out to the community at large with education and artistic expression. The Loft Artists Studios and Galleries, located in Stamford’s South End, is an exciting destination to view and purchase dynamic contemporary art. Featuring 14 artist studios and over 1,200 square feet of exhibit space, the LAA is a vibrant community of established and emerging artists. There is a distinct collective experience here with artists uniquely integrating gallery and studio space. This professional group of working artists partner together to create an annual schedule of high quality exhibits, lectures and educational workshops.
The Loft Artists Association (LAA) began in 1978 as the vision of three local artists who moved into the vacant Yale and Towne Lock Factory building to work and live. Others followed creating the beginning of what has become Stamford’s premier visual arts organization dedicated to creating mutually beneficial ties between the creative individual and the community.

Looking to Join the Community?
The LAA is constantly seeking dynamic artists to join our organization. Benefits of membership include multiple opportunities to exhibit in our galleries and off-site venues as well as inclusion in our website. We also look for artists who are interested in forging relationships with other artists and building connections and creative experiences within the community.
Interested in Giving Back?
As a non-profit organization, The LAA is dependent upon a wide variety of financial support to fund our free programs. Annual grant funding from the City of Stamford, The Connecticut Office of the Arts and The National Foundation of the Arts, as well as private and corporate sponsorship, greatly assists with our efforts. As we seek to sustain our mission and continue to offer high quality exhibits and events, we work toward increasing awareness of our goals. Annual fundraising appeals and events are just some of the ways in which we look to attract donor support for our community programming. Your support is critical!
