Building Our Environment

For Rising 6th, 7th and 8th Graders

June 23 - 27, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Students must commit to the entire week

We will spend the week exploring the ideas of “home,” “city,” and “infrastructure.” Through visual means – drawing, mapping, and building - the group will think about the many elements that come together to make up our environment. Our tools will be our surroundings and imagination, using cardboard and drawing as our medium. By the end of the week, you will look at and understand the world in which we live in a new way. This will be a journey of discovery and artful expression.

Community & Education

Outreach

The LAA is committed to providing art education to the community at large. Our educational programming, partially funded by the City of Stamford, The Connecticut Office of the Arts and The National Foundation of the Arts, enables us to offer in house classes and workshops as well as “push in” workshops and events at local community and senior centers.

Workshops

Each summer, the LAA hosts over 150 children as part of our Summer Art Saturday Workshops. Children engage with our artists in dynamic and creative classroom settings focused on a variety of artistic mediums.
